The billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, decided to acquire the social media company Twitter back in April. Since then, he changed his mind several times and all of that resulted in a lawsuit between the two sides.
Now, Elon Musk is trying to ‘get out’ of the $44 billion deal, and Twitter is doing its best to force him to buy the company at the agreed price. What seemed like a promising collaboration between Parag Agrawal and Musk, in the beginning, turned out to be a complete nogo.
Since the countering sides took the matter to court, text messages between Elon Musk and different sounding names involved in Twitter surfaced. The revelations – shocking. From the initial thoughts that Elon Musk had for the company, to the views and aspirations its co-founder had for it – everything is put on a tray for the public to consume.
Messages Between Parag Agrawal And Elon Musk Reveal He ‘Didn’t Want To Be The Boss Of Anyone’
Elon Musk doesn’t want to be a boss. Well, that is kinda new. This is an enormous revelation for someone who is the head of several big companies. However, he seems to believe this.
Elon Musk thinks that deep inside he is just an engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering or design problems. He reveals this in a text message exchange with Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal.
“Frankly, I hate doing mgmt stuff. I kinda don’t think I should be the boss of anyone. But I love helping solve technical/product design problems.” – Musk confessed to Parag Agrawal.
Agrawal seems to have similar aspirations to Musk. How strange that two CEOs happen to not like what they do, but would rather have everyday engineering work.
“Treat me like an engineer instead of a CEO.” – Parag Agrawal replied to Musk.
Numerous people that work, or have worked together with Parag Agrawal or with Elon Musk confirm that they are both extremely talented engineers, before anything else. Their leading abilities come second to their engineering skills.
For example, Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter can confirm this. He is a very close friend of Elon Musk, but he has working experience with Parag Agrawal as well. He confirms that Parag has an engineering set of skills that he puts to use in his everyday work.
Jack Dorsey even tried to arrange a meeting between Elon Musk and Parag Agrawal before the Twitter deal took place. However, seems like after the meeting he did not leave with a positive experience.
“At least it became clear that you can’t work together. That was clarifying.” – Dorsey’s post-meeting text message to Musk reads.
