Viewers will remember that Phil is still trying to find the funds to complete the sale and was approached by Danny Hardcastle. Danny had a proposition for Phil, which would see him get the money that he needed to complete the purchase.
However, Phil was put off working with Danny after sitting down and talking to him. As the two talked about the business, he couldn’t help himself mock Ben Mitchell and his loss of hearing. Phil took exception to his comments and swiftly knocked back Danny. However, Phil’s business with Danny may not be over yet.

It becomes clear next week that Sharon Mitchell could be in communication with Danny herself. Phil learns about the revelation, and immediately worries that he could be in danger. The relationship between Ben and Danny could also leave Phil’s son in an uncomfortable position, as Ben last saw Danny as he stormed off from their business meeting.
Ben clashed with Danny after he struggled to hear him due to his loss of hearing. Ultimately, Phil is the one responsible for his son’s loss of hearing as he shot the gun that has left him deaf. Danny was lurking in the shadows in Tuesday night’s episode, and quickly approached Phil after hearing him talk about the Queen Vic to Sharon and Mick Carter. Viewers were immediately questioning what his intentions really were.

The day of Ben’s operation finally arrives over the coming weeks, but there are growing fears that he may actually not be well enough to have the surgery. Callum Highway and Kathy Beale are both there for emotional support, but they both fear the worse when he becomes unwell. They beg him to tell the doctors and re-arrange another date.
However, Ben is determined to get the operation done so he can move on with his life. He tells Kathy and Callum that he is fine and wants to go ahead with the operation. However, doctors say that they can’t go ahead, and that leaves Ben despondent. Phil quickly asks Ben if he wants to get involved in the dodgy deal with Danny, but could it be part of their downfall?
