Pokemon fans were delighted when it was revealed that Game Freak would be releasing a brand new RPG game in the winter of 2019. It would allow players the opportunity to discover a brand new region of the Pokemon world and it has been widely well-received with the game quickly becoming the most fastest-selling title on the Switch.
The game itself received favourable reviews, but some fans were disappointed that some of the original Pokemon were nowhere to be seen. That is a very minor detail however and could be amended when the latest download is released next month. However, should you have no brought Sword nor Shield at this point, which game should you get? Here are the biggest differences between the two releases.
Pokemon Sword And Shield: Gym Leaders
The biggest difference between the two games is the fact that they have different Gym Leaders. There are two different leaders, with the game that you get deciding the leaders that you will face. It was a nice subtle difference between the games that we didn’t expect to find, but one that will certainly be of essential reading should you still be undecided on which game to get. Players that invest in Pokemon Shield will have to come up against Allister, who specialises in ghost-type Pokemon. Meanwhile, Sword players will face off against Bea, who specialises in fighting-type.
Pokemon Sword And Shield: Pokemon
As is typically the case when it comes to the Pokemon games, there are different Pokemon to be found in Sword compared to Shield. Of course, this can be amended by trainers trading Pokemon across the internet connection in order to complete their Pokedex. However, should you have a fascination with Deino, Zweilous, Kommo-o and Sirfetch’d, then you should get Sword. If you prefer Larvitar, Goomy, Goodra and Galarian Ponyta, then you should invest in Shield.
Pokemon Sword And Shield: Legendary Pokemon
Of course, Pokemon games mostly offer players the chance between two legendary Pokemon, and Sword and Shield are no different. There isn’t much difference between either of the Pokemon, which means it is purely down to whichever one you would prefer. Shield will see players have the chance to catch Zamazenta, while Sword will offer players the chance to capture Zacian.
