Chelsea have long been a club side that have been ridiculed for their inability to bring through youth players despite having one of the most respected academies in the United Kingdom. They have let a number of talented young players slip through their fingers, while their transfer policy has been questionable full stop as they have let go of Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Mohamed Salah before they reached their prime.
However, there have been signs of change at Stamford Bridge, as they are finally giving younger players a time to shine. But, which players have the highest potential rating at the Blues in Career Mode?
FIFA 21 Chelsea: Mason Mount
Mason Mount has become a common fixture in the Chelsea and England teams over the past couple of years, and that looks only set to continue judging by the potential rating that the attacking midfielder has on FIFA 21. Mount starts FIFA 21 with an overall rating of 80, but can reach a potential rating of 87.
Managers will be able to coach Mount to play in a number of different positions, as he can occupy a position wide left as well as deeper in a central midfield position. However, he will not be a cheap player to sign, as he will cost around £40 million.
FIFA 21 Chelsea: Callum Hudson-Odoi
One Chelsea youngster that has already caught the attention of clubs from around Europe is Callum Hudson-Odoi. The winger was close to the exit at Stamford Bridge a couple of years ago, as Bayern Munich wanted to sign him. However, the Blues could be about to see the best of the 19-year-old.
In Career Mode, he starts the game with an overall rating of 77, but he can rise to an incredible rating of 87 after a couple of seasons. His main strengths are his acceleration and dribbling, and will cost managers a price of £20 million if they want to snap him up.
FIFA 21 Chelsea: Reece James
It isn’t a secret that Reece James is very highly regarded in FIFA 21, and that has been shown by the fact that he has been included in the Future Stars promotion on the EA Sports game over recent weeks.
The right-back can also play in a holding midfield position, and has the potential to reach an overall rating of 86 after a couple of seasons. The young right-back could immediately be a starter for whatever side wants to sign him in Career Mode, as he has an overall rating of 78. But, he will not be a cheap acquisition, as he costs in the region of £30 million.
