Square Enix ‘Final Fantasy VII Remake‘ is here! The remake of the original adventure has fans cheering at the animation, re-telling of the classic story and the new voice acting element. Back in 1997, the original didn’t have any voice acting and instead you read everything inboxes. We didn’t think anything of it because we didn’t know any better.
While playing through last night, I found many familiar voices and a big surprise that I cannot confirm through IMDB. Perhaps the first thing I noticed in the trailers, and especially in my playthrough was Steve Burton was no longer the voice of Cloud. While initially, I was skeptical of the new voice, I grew into it relatively quickly. I also noticed some big-name actors doing some voice work, and was surprised they were in this title. So, I thought, why not show you guys who’re behind the voices on ‘Final Fantasy VII Remake’.
Square Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy VII Remake’ Voice Acting | Voices You May Recognize | He’s In It? | PS4
Keep in mind, this is not a complete list of the actors, but rather a list of voices that may have surprised you.
Cloud Strife – Cody Christian
The new voice behind Cloud Strife is actor Cody Christian. Steve Burton is now longer voicing him and at first, I had a hard time switching, but now I’m all on board. Christian is probably best known for his role in ‘Teen Wolf’ as Theo Raeken. Keep up the good work Cody.
Sephiroth – Tyler Hoechlin
From good to bad! Tyler Hoechlin you probably recognize as Superman on ‘Supergirl’ and the CW shows. However, he’s switched his cape for long, flowing white hair! I had no idea Sepiroth was Superman until I started looking through the cast. Very cool!
Wedge – Matt Jones
Yep. Badger from ‘Breaking Bad’ is the voice of the lovable AVALANCE member, Wedge. You can tell immediately, as his raspy voice is iconic and instantly recognizable. It’s like if you were screaming at a concert all day and woke up with a sore throat. He could totally voice Shaggy.
Additional Voices – Patrick Warburton
Yes, I promise. While he’s not listed on the official IMDB cast list, Warburton can definitely be heard through the game. Most notably once you get to the slums, and you’re walking through you see a guard against a gate and he tells you don’t want to go in there. Either one of the people on this game nails the perfect impression, or it’s Kronk himself!
These were some interesting voices that I noticed while playing through ‘Final Fantasy VII Remake’ last night and I hope you find this as interesting as I do!
