ITV ‘Coronation Street’ spoilers have revealed that Simon Barlow could be about to run away from Weatherfield after being pushed aside by his mother Leanne Battersby. Viewers will be aware that the last couple of weeks have been tough for Leanne as she has needed to come to terms with the shock diagnosis of Oliver.
Her youngest son remains in a bad way, but Leanne refuses to believe that she will lose him. Instead, she is clinging to the fact that he will make a full recovery and life will go back to normal. However, the chances of that happening are minimal as the illness that Oliver has is a life-limiting one, and that has already put a strain on Leanne’s relationship with Nick.

Nick and Leanne previously clashed at the hospital last week, as Leanne sent him home after warning her that she should be realistic. Steve McDonald has also pleaded with Leanne to have an open mind and not to expect miracles. Steve asked the doctor this week whether his son will have brain damage, and the doctor revealed that it was a likely scenario.
However, Leanne refused to believe that was going to happen, as she revealed that she needs to believe that he will make a full recovery. There was a glimmer of hope this week as Oliver finally woke up from the tests and said ‘mommy’. Leanne was over the moon, and turned to Steve admitted that she knew that he would get better.

Episodes over the next week will continue to focus on this story, but there could be a twist. Leanne will return home with Oliver and push away everybody that is trying to help her. She refuses to accept the help as she believes that she knows what is best for her son. Her stance will cause friction in her relationship, and Simon will also be affected.
Spoilers have already revealed that Nick may be forced to leave Leanne as a consequence, as he doesn’t feel that she wants him there anymore. Simon could also be left feeling the same, as he will only be trying to help his mother. Viewers are convinced that Leanne will neglect Simon over future episodes and that will ultimately see the hot-headed child run away from home.
