Codigames is such a busy studio when it comes to mobile business sims. There’s actually another studio that makes similar games which are similar to Codigames‘ stuff. TV Empire Tycoon looks to up the complexity to make imitations hard to pull off.
TV Empire Tycoon
At its core, TV Empire Tycoon isn’t the most complex game. Just invest money into a room by buying fixtures, equipment, staff, and on-site personnel. That’s just the first phase. Phase two is to keep upgrading all of that stuff while making money.
Easy enough and there are layers of stuff to upgrade. Not only that but there are multiple stations to your TV empire. If you stick with the game, you’ll stay busy.
Just know that there isn’t enough of an incentive to stick with the game for longer than a week. I’m sure the game opens up when you buy different power-ups and more time to generate funds.
Without any purchases, TV Empire Tycoon is grindy as hell.
Mobile Gaming Verdict: 6.5/10
Codigames have really started making their games unique by adding an element of incremental micromanagement.
Before, their games mainly had you generate cash to buy new fixtures—which allowed you to make more money.
It was a formula that was easily copied by a few other developers in the idle game arena. Once the studio started breaking down those fixtures into a service or mechanic that needed these particular parts to be invested in, they really hit something.
TV Empire Tycoon is the best example of Codigames’ matured direction. It even moves you through different stations in a more natural way as opposed to finishing a location and just moving on.
The biggest flaw of the game is that even with this approach you still have a game that runs off repetition. If you’re actively managing things, you’ll find it’s a lot of the same over and over.
It’s almost necessary to pay for one of the game upgrades for more idle time so that you’d generate more cash.
That’s in addition to watching enough ads that the idle play generates a significant amount of money.
