‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that recent antagonists Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) and Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) both roared into the town with so much potential, were fearsome, and we knew little about them beyond the spooky tales that were circulated across the community.
They were both portrayed by outstanding actors who really brought them to life and gave the impression that they could compete with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), for example. However, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) dealt both of them pretty mediocre deaths.
When Nick punched him, Ashland fell and hit his head, killing him unintentionally. Meanwhile, Phyllis used scissors to assassinate Stark in a damp motel room. It’s a little disturbing that they were destroyed so quickly and gradually over time after such a strong beginning.

For Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), Ashland became into a lovesick puppy dog, and over time, this wonderful persona was gently chipped away until he was a blubbering lovesick old man.
Everyone in Genoa City, including Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), who had an affair with his wife, was afraid of him when he first arrived since he appeared to be a force to be reckoned with.
Stark was a mystery. We didn’t know who he was and had just fleetingly saw him in Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) flashback.
But once more, he gradually lost his threatening qualities over time, eventually coming across as foolish and unimportant. He got one pulled over on him by Phyllis and slain with scissors to put an end to it all.
Simply said, it strikes me as absurd that the authors keep inventing these horrifying villains only to demolish them and turn them into comedy at the conclusion of their arcs.
We hope that they can finally resolve this obvious problem because it is disappointing that they can’t seem to keep a reliable bad guy.
