Streaming service gaming has expanded repeatedly, mostly due to the massive success of the Game Pass. A lot of other companies have tried and considerably failed in comparison. These range from companies like Google with the Stadia to massive studios like Ubisoft and EA.
All these companies have tried to make what Xbox Game Pass has succeeded with but have all fallen short.
One of the biggest streaming platforms of both TV and movies is going into the streaming game industry.
Netflix has already dipped their toes in gaming waters in the past by developing a game alongside the release of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance but with the cancelling of the series on Netflix.
It’s unlikely that it was considered a success. Making this look like their new way to get into the gaming industry.
What we know about Netflix going into gaming
It has been mentioned recently that the games will be added to the current subscription at no extra cost. This will likely change later on as the price for Netflix has changed a lot through the years with different prices.
The new project is being managed by Former EA and Oculus exec Mike Perdu. Apart from that, we don’t know much about how this will work with Netflix.
What could Netflix’s gaming division look like?
Looking at who is currently in charge of the division. It’s very likely that many of the games coming to Netflix will involve VR.
If this is true, it’s highly possible that there could be many Netflix series being made into VR games on the day of release to promote the series.
It also seems possible that we may see Ubisoft as one of the studios involved. With this as Netflix and Ubisoft have had a growing relationship for a while.
