Tribes of Midgard was released on July 27th and quickly capitalized on the Viking craze in video games and has received nearly 7,000 positive reviews on Steam. Developed by Norsfell, Tribes of Midgard puts you and up to 9 friends in a session as you fight off mighty Jotuns while defending your village and hopefully defeating the mighty wolf boss Fenrir.
Each session you’ll gain season experience for upgrades, cosmetics, and more, as well as golden horns you can use in the store to further your custom character.
With the first season barely a month old, many players are already looking forward to the next ones and talking about the potential for growth. Here are a few things we look forward to seeing in Tribes of Midgard.
1.) New Classes
I think this one goes without saying. Tribes of Midgard did this part right, have things as unlockables instead of us dishing out cold hard cash. Definitely made it enjoyable trying to get every class, but now many players have already unlocked them and have had plenty of runs with each class.
In a world where Jotun’s exist and we craft weapons with elemental properties, maybe a few pure magic casters would be interesting, or an assassin-like playstyle. Keep em’ coming!
What Do We Want To See In The Next Season Of Tribes Of Midgard?
2.) More Runes To Unlock And Equip
The runes you find around the world are super helpful and can help take your character to the next level, though at the moment, we can get the same one up to two, three, even four times in the same session. Maybe it’s the drop rate, but even with unlocking more, we still often get the same ones. Maybe some more variety would help or the ability to choose one rune we want to start with.
3.) Different Game Modes To Add Some Variety!
Don’t get me wrong, I love this game, but I would love some new ways to play. Currently, we have Saga mode (in which you can only be in one group session at a time), single-player and basic survival.
Some new ways to play, or maybe a more pure survival-type game mode would be cool. This we can expect though, as right on their Steam page is says each season event will bring, “… including new ways to play and new rewards to earn through the season’s unlockable progression track.”
I’m really enjoying this game, but at this point, feel as though I’ve basically already “beat it”. Believe me, I understand how new it is and everything, I just hope we could see some of these things in the future!
