It has been a testing time for the Weatherfield County star, as he has been forced to tell his teammates that he is gay. The news was welcomed by most of the players, but one of them can’t help but make a comment in tonight’s episode.
It will be a testament to how far James has come over the past couple of weeks as he stands up against his teammate. He will make a homophobic remark towards James, before then insinuating that James and Tommy Orpington are seeing each other. James stands up for himself and admits that while Tommy is a good looking lad, he isn’t his type.

They laugh at his joke, before Tommy winks at James revealing that he is fully supportive of his teammate. James is no longer as scared as he once was, as he also has the support of his father.
James and Ed made up in Friday’s episode. The football star admitted that he may just have to hide who he is for a number of months before he is brave enough to come out. But, his father wasn’t having any of that and urged him to stay strong. The two have clashed over recent weeks, but that is firmly a sign of the past now, as Ed revealed that he believes in his son and will always stand up for him.

James has been unlucky in love since arriving in Weatherfield. Bethany Platt made the first move on the footballer, before he quickly revealed that he wasn’t interested because he was gay. Bethany was stunned, but they were able to form a strong friendship instead. He did rekindle a relationship with Danny for a while, but that ended as James refused to reveal his sexuality.
There have been a number of spoilers that indicate that James is about to embark on a new relationship, with Tommy one of the favourites among them. However, it isn’t known whether Tommy is gay at this point, and fans are simply predicting that there could be romance between the two since Tommy stuck up for his teammate. It could be an interesting development, and we could learn more about it in tonight’s episode.
