Let’s look at Brew Town, a craft beer brewing game. How will it fare in this Mobile Gaming Review? Will it hold the line against a brewery game challenger next week? Let’s find out!
Brew Town
If I had to describe Brew Town, I’d say it’s a time management game. However, it’s also kind of a business sim. The main thing here is a lack of actual challenge or completion. There are challenges to clear but they’re easy to meet.
In this game, you’ll build your craft beer brewery from scratch. Brewhouses and coming up with a flavor profile for your brews’ recipe will be your main tasks since there’s a lot of waiting for brewing to finish.
Once you sell enough beers and tap on the game’s generous money drones, you just keep building brew houses, making money, upgrading your bar, warehouse, and brewhouses, and repeating.
That’s the cycle of Brew Town: brew, collect, invest, repeat. That said, the developer does all of this in a game that is straightforward and will not consume your time. Just drop in here and there to brew, collect, and invest.
If it was a more competitive game, it would probably be more involved.
Mobile Gaming Verdict: 6/10
Brew Town is actually a really funcraft beer business/time management sim. It has a cool art style that I’ve warmed up to over time and it’s not difficult or time-consuming.
The time management element of the game is more dominant since you’re mainly waiting for stuff to finish researching or finish brewing. This element controls the pace of the game while the business management end is mainly building and upgrading stuff when you have enough cash.
Brew Town’s “Hop or Not” where you rate the bottle and can designs of other players is a cool side feature and I actually find myself designing bottles more than managing my brewery.
I mean, might as well since there is no risk in the game. It would be hard for you to fail and go bankrupt in this game. In-game award shows or something competitive would push the score a little higher but as it stands it’s a good time waster.
