Even if you compare the game to many current remasters and remakes, you could say that it’s very outdated. Let’s look into this game like it meant to be looked at as a port of a classic game from the sixth generation of consoles. Playing through the game, it has come to the PS4 beautifully.
It kept true to original, to what made the game enjoyable but also with a great graphical upgrade. It still has a very retro feel to it like when the 3D platformer first started to make waves in the industry. Making it feel very nostalgic through your playthrough of the game.
The story of Ty The xboxTasmanian Devil is a very simple one. Your family has been abducted and your job is to get them back from a portal of sorts. The only way to do this is getting a different Talisman to open the portal and save your family. This is basically it but you don’t really need that much more, if this was over complicated, it would ruin the feel of the game.
It could have done with some tweeks…
They kept a lot of the original game in this remake and with that it felt very nostalgic. That being said, there were some things that didn’t really age well. The big one is the camera, with how fast you move through the game. It just doesn’t feel right with the game at the speed you’re moving about, it kind of messes up the pace of it.
This is definitely not a game breaker. That being said, this game has aged through the years and a lot of new gamers that didn’t play the original might not enjoy this one but for those who played it back in the sixth generation, should find this one a massive blast from the past.
Summary
Compared to other remakes like Spongbob, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. It’s definitely not hitting the nail on the head. This has been done by the original studio compared to the others with a different company remaking the game. Its true HD remaster to the original with not that much of a change.
If you’ve played the original game and want to see more of Ty, this is a must as this game will show the studio how many people love Ty which will help and inspire the game studio to make more games including Ty!
The people who are new to the series might have to think twice. It does feel like a classic retro 3D platformer, so if you’ve played any of the classic platformers this is a must buy for you. If this is your first, it’s a good place to start the genre. With its amazing design, simple story and a lot of passion behind the development.
