A new lightweight mini-war is added to the UFC 277 event happening on July 30th. The two newcomers, Drew Dober and Rafael Alves will take on each other, both proving their worth and looking for an advancement in their UFC careers.
Sources close to Dana White confirm that the match will be happening for sure. However, the UFC is yet to make an official announcement. Dana is making such ‘leaks’ to get a feeling of the situation and of the interest in the fight before going forward and arranging it.
Drew Dober Will Face Rafael Alves At The UFC 277 In July
Let me start with this. 2021 was not Dober’s year. He had two matches and he lost both of them. However, this year he is looking for a turn of events. He starts 2022 with a win against Terrance McKinney at the UFC fight night 203 back in March, and he is in the mood to continue winning. His current professional record is 24-11-1 and he finishes almost half of his fights with a KO.
Rafael Alves on the other hand hasn’t fought anybody since November 2021, when he won against Marc Diakiese at the UFC fight night 197. He won in an exciting fashion, performing a submission in the first round. 2021 he has only two matches like his opponent, one loss and one win. His record is 20-10-0 and he is more of a submission guy than a knockout performer. He lands a submission in as high as 40% of his bouts.
This fight will be a fruitful addition to the already booked fights. The event is promising a lot.
The main bout is set for Brandon Moreno against Kai Kara France who will fight for winning the UFC flyweight title.
Paulo Costa against Luke Rockhold will be an exciting bout at this event. We cannot neglect the fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Anthony Smith. All in all great potential in all bouts. Potential for performing a series of mini-wars. All of the contenders for the event are hungry for a win and will greatly benefit from a win as a matter of fact. So that makes them even more eager to win, and take the game to the maximum level. Maximum level means upping the brutality and the action as much as possible.
And a brutal and active fight is what the UFC fans want to see.
An addition to the complete excitement for the UFC 277 event is the callouts and targeting that Dustin Poirier makes with Colby Covington. This would be a massive showdown between the two. However, there is no confirmation from the UFC regarding this bout as well. We are left with the rumors and with the provocative Tweets that Dustin Poirier tweets regularly.
